THE NATURE OF SPACE IN THE `DEUS EX
MACHINA' UNIVERSE
![]() In ordinary Photonic Space, i.e. ours, time slows down near a massive body like a star. The motion of an inert body (A) falling into the star is only slightly affected; the body itself just enters the sun’s surface if it doesn't disintegrate first. A space ship (B) however, which enters this `timefield’ travelling very close to the speed of light (C) may find that its velocity now exceeds c’s local value. From the ship’s point of view, the star turns into an `endostar’ a kind of negative star which absorbs radiation and emits matter. It also has a reversed gravitational field; one would have to go into orbit around it in order to prevent oneself from being flung away into space. Time will pass more quickly in direct proportion to the height of the orbit above the surface and one would `age’ faster than in normal space. However, in this case the ship will pass straight through the endostar and on into Tachyonic space. Once it enters Tachyonic Space, the spaceship's mass and therefore its momentum becomes negative – it would now take an immense braking force to make it move as slow as c. In fact it actually accelerates at a rate proportional to the negative mass represented by the endostar. Now, according to the direction from which the ship enters a star, the nearest endostar along its line of travel becomes its exit point back into Photonic Space. From the ship’s point of view, that endostar now becomes an ordinary star – in fact not only do stars become endostars in Tachyonic Space, but the reverse applies; each forms the other. For this reason they are very different from black holes, which have their own positive and negative forms in each space. In Tachyonic Space, any journey between two stars whether they are close together or a galaxy apart always takes 43 minutes and 41 seconds, no matter how distant they are from each other in Photonic Space. This is because Tachyonic Space is a hypersphere made up of time rather than space, and any journey across it is like passing through its `diameter', which is a constant. |
